Laminated crane mats are also referred to as laminated truck mats, swamp mats, three-ply mats, lams, and board road mats. These mats are the most cost effective mat based on square footage. Most temporary roads and access roads including logging roads, pipeline roads, and transmission line roads will use these starter mats.

Some benefits of "Lams" are:

1. They are ideal for lighter loads.

2. Better project sight stability in wet weather.

3.Useful for creating staging areas. 

The pipeline industry uses Timber mats also known as "Crane Mats or Heavy equipment mats" for ground stabilization while digging and laying pipe.

2. Won’t break, bend or flex into the ground below

3.Hardwood mats are available in thicknesses ranging from 8 to 12 in, with widths of either 4 or 5 ft

4. Crane mats come in lengths from 16 ft to 40 ft
